Penley Golf is a wholly owned subsidiary of HST, Inc.  HST was founded in early 1990 with an original business strategy of entering the growing graphite golf shaft industry. After initial success with a number of golf shaft customers, HST was able to attract larger O.E.M. customers such as Callaway Golf®, Taylor Made Golf®, and others. HST has manufactured over 30 million golf shafts since 1990.

The driving force behind HST's success in this market stemmed from an engineered approach to both product design and manufacturing. HST implemented a diversification strategy in 1995 that sought to increase the portfolio of products it manufactured and to broaden its markets. The company has been successful in utilizing its engineering an manufacturing expertise to design and manufacture a variety of products for a variety of industries. Golf shafts represent a small portion of the overall business for HST.

HST has an extensive customer list and product portfolio that extends into a variety of markets including automotive, leisure, music/sound, industrial and many others. HST/Penley operates out of a 65,000-sq/ft facility in San Diego, CA and a 110,000-sq/ft facility in Tijuana, Mexico.
